Lustres are vases with many hanging prisms. The name really refers to the prisms, and it is proper to refer to a single glass prism as a lustre. The word Albertines was also used to refer to Lusters.
Lusters started off when someone had the idea of hanging a few glass prisms from brass candlesticks. These became very popular as either decorations for the table, or to be placed on the mantle over the fire place. In the mid Victorian era, the fashion changed from brass, to glass.
These were produced in Both England and France.
