Jewellery Boxes
Jewellery boxes are among our most requested items ,unfortunately they were not made in any quantity until the end of the 19th century. These were usually rather small and tended to be covered in skiver (calfs leather) with an insert handle on the lid. Before this time ladies vanity boxes containing silver or plate bottles had a concealed drawer used for storing jewellery. Vanity boxes that have lost their bottles can with some skilful relining make excellent jewel boxes. Another alternative is to reline sewing boxes that have lost most of their interiors. Note that we never remove original interiors if they are intact.
