| Epergne |
| First produced in the mid 1800s the glass Epergne quickly became a popular and fashionable table decoration. Mainly manufactured in Stourbridge, England, the Epergne is a fine example of Victorian glass making at its very best.
Epergnes were placed in the middle of a dining or side table, and then filled with flowers. Occasionally, sweets, nuts, or even more flowers were placed in the bowl of the epergne.
Produced until around the 1920s, the Epergne is now avidly sought after by collectors all over the world. These collectors range from keen gardeners wishing to elegantly display the best flowers from their garden, to many of today's pop stars, and even a former US President. |
